South Air Navigation

The establishment of Moscow-Sochi airway at the end of 1929 was the beginning of the Black Sea ATC center. The ATC Service was established in Sochi Airport on September 1945.

On 01.07.2004 after reorganization “South Air Navigation” Branch of FSUE “ATM Corporation” was established. The Branch provides air navigation services over the Southern Federal District territory. The objectives of the Branch include: air traffic service over the territory of 30 Federal Subjects of the Russian Federation and the water areas of Azov, Caspian and Black Sea.

The Branch area of responsibility totals around 750000 km², the length of air routes is 17000 km (including international ones). Around 1500 aircraft are served in airspace area of “South Air Navigation” Branch daily. Currently, 4000 employees are working in the Branch.
